Scenic fab for film, TV, and commercials. We build for production designers and directors out of our Vancouver shop.
Shown
MGM Grand
60′ train car. Two weeks. With production designer Sean Jackson.
We build scenic for film, TV, commercials, music videos, and one-off branded environments out of our Vancouver shop.
20+ years on the work. Production designers and directors send us drawings; we come back with materials, finish notes, and a build plan.
This is where The Flat Factory started. Trade show booths, brand activations, and our reusable wall flat system are the same craft applied to a different brief. The shop floor is the same shop floor.
What we build
Standing sets, episodic builds, location augmentation, soundstage construction. Full scenic and paint scope. We work to the PD's intent and the AD's schedule.

Commercial spots, brand films, product films, short-form work. Tight schedules, high finish standards, often built and shot in days. We've turned around full sets in less than a week when the brief and the schedule both called for it.

Music video sets, festival installs, one-off branded environments, art-directed photo and film capture environments. Same craft, different brief.

Track record
20+ years building scenic for film, TV, and commercials in Vancouver. Not borrowed credentials. The actual builds, finished and shot. The next section names some of them.
We read drawings and work to the PD's intent. The scenic and paint departments hit finish notes, not despite them. Most of our work comes in through production designers and art directors we've worked with before.
Same shop builds a 60′ train car in two weeks (MGM Grand, with Sean Jackson) and a one-day commercial set (Captain Morgan, with Hank Mann). Feature scope and commercial scope are the same craft applied to different timelines.
“I always look forward to working with The Flat Factory. There's no build that's beyond their reach and the scenic/paint department delivers top notch finishes. They excel at bringing a designer's vision to life.”
Process
01
The PD or art department sends drawings, references, schedule, and budget target.
02
We come back with materials choices, finish notes, and the build plan. We flag anything that could affect cost or schedule early.
03
Build happens in our Vancouver shop. Carpentry, scenic paint, finishes, integrated lighting, and any required AV.
04
We install on stage or location, handle changes during the shoot, and strike after the wrap.

Send the drawings, the schedule, and the brief. We'll come back with materials, finish notes, and a quote. If it can be built, we'll figure it out.
